About Me

Scott and Sheila photo Whether you are depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or simply in deep pain, there is no situation that can't be significantly improved by the experience of being deeply heard and understood -- and by employing techniques that are proven to work.

You have every reason to be hopeful.

I am a licensed mental health practitioner (PLMHP) and certified executive and life coach (PCC).

I treats adults with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, work/life stress, and alcohol and drug dependency. I have more than 35-years of direct experience working with alcoholics and drug addicts.

I use a holistic, solution-based approach, drawing from Brainspotting, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Coaching/Motivational Interviewing.

I have coached business owners and executives for more than 20 years, running eight companies myself since 1982.

In 2007, I founded AtEaseUSA.org, a preferred provider network for Nebraska military families recovering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and a clinical-trial research hub which is developing and deploying advanced trauma treatment technology called Attention Control Therapy (ACT) for military families and for clients recovering from civilian PTSD resulting from domestic violence and child abuse.

I received a BA in English from Brown University, a MS in Clinical Counseling from University of Nebraska at Omaha, and was trained and certified in executive/life coaching by The Coach Training Institute (CTI) in San Francisco, CA.

With my beautiful wife Sheila (of almost 30 years, see photo above) I am a parent of four wonderful children. Our middle son, Max, died of drug overdose in 2017. We miss him very much.
